Hot Beef Jerky
Start with 1/2 of base recipe and add:
1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
1/4 cup red pepper sauce (Franks, Durkees, Texas Pete ect.)
After marinating and before hanging sprinkle with crushed red pepper flakes. The flake will stick to the wet jerky. The flakes don't add much heat but will help identify which flavor it is. very useful when making more than one flavor at a time.
Black Peppered Beef Jerky
Start with 1/2 of base recipe and add:
1 tsp of regular grind black pepper (mix well)
After marinating and before hanging sprinkle both sides with course ground black pepper and cook as usual. The course ground black pepper will stick well on the wet jerky and also identify it from the other flavors.
Hot Honey BBQ Beef Jerky
Start with 1/2 of base recipe and add:
1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
1/4 cup red pepper sauce
1/2 cup of hickory BBQ sauce (use your favorite brand)
1/4 cup honey
Mix well and marinate meat and cook as usual. This flavor cand be identified from the others by the reddish color, even after cooking.
Spicy Chili Beef Jerky
Start with 1/2 of the base recipe and add:
1/4 tsp more garlic powder (or garlic salt)
1/2 tsp more onion salt
1 tbsp chili powder
1 tsp ground cumin
Mix well, marinate meat (turning meat often in marinade) and cook as usual.
